Delicate gold-filled jewelry (like these darling rings) elevates daywear by adding just the right amount of subtle glamour–at least in my opinion! I personally like gold-filled (as opposed to gold-plated) because gold-filled pieces tend to last for decades and are pretty affordable compared to solid gold.
I bought these gold-filled hoop earrings a few months ago, and I’ve been wearing them almost non-stop. They’re made by Etsy designer Avnis. She’s got a really pretty collection, so I recommend browsing her store if you like this style of jewelry. This little stacking ring came with the purchase–how cool is that?
In other news, I’ve been thinking about my career as a writer (which is nothing new) and trying to brainstorm ways to grow in it (as well as expand the job itself). When I left the academic track, it felt like I was entering a noman’s land, one where I’d have to be more responsible for determining the structure of my working life. I know the idea of “being one’s own boss” sounds terrific to many, but it never did for me. I like having a boss (who’s not me!). All my life, I’ve preferred to defer to others–let someone else have the final say.
It’s been about over two years since I started blogging with career ambitions, and I’m still figuring stuff out as I go. In a such a new field, I suppose that’s normal, but sometimes I get impatient with myself for not having something that feels more “solid.” The other day I had a realization, however.
Writing and blogging must be approached with an attitude of joy. It is good and necessary to celebrate the way you perform your craft.
When I allow this joy of the work to energize me, I can do great things–and I will keep “figuring stuff out as I go,” honing my writing interests, and further establishing myself in this ever-growing career. I’m not sure what 2016 will bring, but I’m optimistic!
Happy New Year! xx
